Culinary Institute of Charleston Chefs Council
James is a founding member of the Chefs Council at the Culinary Institute of Charleston at Trident Technical College. Inducted in June 2005 by Trident Technical College President Mary Thornley, James and seven other renowned industry leaders serve as a guiding force for the Culinary Institute of Charleston. The Council of Charleston’s top chefs were inducted for the vital role they have played in shaping the Culinary Institute of Charleston and for their past support of the College's culinary students and programs.
Patrick E. Ringwald Memorial
Culinary Garden at the Culinary Institute of Charleston
Patrick E. Ringwald was a widely respected and engaged member of Charleston’s food and beverage community. After his death in 2003, family, friends and colleagues established the Patrick E. Ringwald Memorial Foundation to support hospitality and culinary training in the Lowcountry. The TTC Foundation and the Ringwald Foundation have partnered to create a 4,400 square foot garden outside the Culinary Institute of Charleston in Patrick’s honor, designed by renowned landscape architect Sheila Wertimer. The garden contains four growing areas arranged in a parterre style, a water feature and sitting areas for students and the public to enjoy. Construction began in October 2006 and was completed in January 2007.
